You no longer need to throw away your fry pans, utensils, grills, and other cookware because the non-stick coating has worn off. Professional and gourmet cookware is expensive. FryPan can re-coat your cookware for considerably less than buying new. Their process of re-coating with DuPont non-stick is much better than the factory process of applying non-stick coatings. As long as it’s metal, they re-coat all surfaces of your cookware or fry pans. This allows for more uniform heating throughout the pan and it’s much easier to clean up.
They can also recoat
Whisks, Tongs, Spatulas, Colanders, Mixing bowls, Pyrex®, Cookie sheets, Barbecue grills, Waffle irons, Deep fryers, Woks, How It Works
Preparation
When prepping fry pans and other cookware for non-stick recoating, remove all plastic handles and accessories. If we can remove the plastic handle or accessory without damage, we will return it with the recoated cookware unattached. If they are not removed, we cannot guarantee they will be returned. Remember, only metal and aluminum can handle the recoating process.
Special Instructions
When sending cookware to us for recoating, please attach a note describing what you are sending and a return address including name and phone number.
Shipping (VERY IMPORTANT):
If using UPS, Federal Express, Airborne or any trucking company: Packages need to be sent to the physical address: 20757 SW 105th Avenue; Tualatin, OR 97062.
If using the U.S. Postal Service, please send to PO Box 927; Tualatin, OR 97062.
Starting the day after we receive your cookware, allow ten (10) working days to process your order. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday excluding major holidays. On the tenth working day or sooner, the cookware will be shipped within the continental United States via United Parcel Service (UPS) from their facility at current prices based on weight and distance. No additional handling charges will be added.

POLYSTYRENE PACKING & PEANUTS
Packing peanuts don’t have much recycling potential, but they can be reused. Many packing, shipping and moving stores will take used peanuts. Just pack them up in (recycled) plastic bags, and drop them off next time you are nearby. Suitable businesses can be located under “packaging” in the yellow pages. Typical chain stores include Mail Boxes Etc. and The Postal Annex. For a partial list of local collection sites, try the Plastic Loosefill Council at 1-800-828-2214 (24 Hours).
Special Note:
Some peanuts are not made of plastic. If you find a peanut that looks like a cheese puff, try weting it. One type of peanut is made from vegetable starch, and dissolves almost instantly in water. If you buy peanuts, strongly consider switching to this type. They’re better for the environment, and much much easier to get rid of.
Disposal of rigid foam blocks (such as those protecting new equipment) is problematic. The materials are very lightweight, they’re made from natural gas: it is easy to end up with a net environmental loss just transporting the stuff. For most individuals recycling this material is not worth it, though future research into local small-scale reprocessing may change this. If you have large quantities of material, a list of collection sites is available from The Alliance of Foam Recyclers www.epspackaging.org

Recycle Facility
The Monroe County Department of Environmental Services 753-7600 (Option 3)
Monroe County Department of Environmental Services (MCDES) is participating in a program with the National Recycling Coalition and Nike, Inc. that will allow area residents to recycle their unwanted athletic sneakers instead of throwing them in the garbage. Nike’s Reuse-A-Shoe program recycles and grinds athletic footwear and turns them into sports surfaces.
Location
Sneaker collection barrels are located at 444 E. Henrietta Road (Building 15) in both public access doors. The doors are open to the public 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Notes
- Residents making appointments (753-7600 Option #3) to bring unwanted paint, chemicals, etc. to the county’s Household Hazardous Waste Facility may also bring in sneakers for recycling. Call 753-7600 (Option 3), 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday-Friday for an appointment.
- MCDES will also hold sneaker collection drives at the Monroe County Resource Recovery Facility and at area schools—for information call 760-7526.
Guidelines
The program accepts sneakers (any brand) only—no shoes, boots, sandals. The sneakers must not be the light-up variety or contain any metal (eyelets, grommets, spikes, cleats, etc.) and cannot be tied together or in plastic bags.
SMOKE DETECTORS
The most common type of smoke detector contains a small amount of Americium 241, a radioactive material. Detector companies accept returned radioactive detectors for disposal as hazardous waste. Unfortunately the companies seem to assume you’ll keep the instruction booklet on hand for the entire life of the product, and don’t always put good contact information on the case.
Detectors have a limited life span, usually specified at ten years. Testing your detector with actual smoke is the only way to be sure it will work when needed. The vast majority of smoke detectors are made by First Alert Corporation. Send old detectors to First Alert, Radioactive Waste Disposal, 780 McClure Rd, Aurora, IL 60504-2495, 1-800-323-9005. Others are made by a Canadian firm called American Sensors, dial 1-800-387-4219 for information. The companies sell detectors under many different brand names, and can dispose of any of them. Send detectors by surface mail or UPS Ground so they don’t end up in an airplane.
